It’s liveblogging time! A little TiVo delay as we were catching up “I Survived a Japanese Game Show.”
9:13 PM - Wow. The group numbers have been on fire all season. I had a bit of a Mortal Kombat flash with the boy’s costumes. I was genuinely stumped at first on the choreography, which causes me to guess Wade Robson. I was right, but I’ll watch that one again later to enjoy that one complete.
9:15 PM – Four Emmy nominations, and even one for Dimitri Chaplin. Double wow.
9:19 PM – Wow, no Nigel. The judges’ table is just JISNM and Debbie. Ugh, strap in everyone, this is going to be a bumpy ride.
9:21 PM – Recap. Yawn. Why do I want to I want a highlight reel of JISNM braying about the dances?
9:22 PM - It’s time to figure out which girls are in trouble. I am thinking Randi and Kayla, with Randi getting the chop.
9:24 PM – A nervously laughing Janette will not have to do a pointless solo. Cat is listing a whole lot of brutal criticism for Randi, who takes her bottom two-hood like she knew it was coming. She is weirdly happy to be sitting on the Doom Stool. I notice that the last two are Kayla and Melissa, so it will probably be one of those two joining her.
9:26 PM - Yup. Jeanine is off the hook. No shock there after her super number last week.
9:27 PM – Oh snap! Melissa is in the bottom! I am really bummed. We could be gearing me up for an honest-to-god mourning period for me if Randi stays…maximum sad potential!
9:31 PM – Another season 6 tease. There are some good ones, but I am starting to get a little sour on learning so much ahead of time.
9:32 PM – Turns out Mary is not allowed to touch the dancers. Apparently we all learned our Dimitri lesson. Oh, and Jason is howling with success. The next part of the lineup is Evan-Kupono…betting one of those two, likely Kupono.
9:34 PM – Evan lives, Kupono will swing, right? Right. What an outfit. “You did a twirl, you ham!” Cat says, after praising his costume. When Cat is praising your wardrobe, you have a problem. Also, it was nice of her to call Kupono a “ham” instead of a “queer.”
9:36 PM – Brandon and Ade. I want to say Brandon, but I think the voters are still thinking of couples, so it will be Ade.
9:37 PM – Yup, it’s Ade. I’m pretty sure he got more votes than Kupono.
9:38 PM – Wow, the 100th episode is going to be loaded. Ellen DeGeneres is a great get, and I don’t know how much they had to give up to Scientology to pry Katie Holmes out of captivity.
9:39 PM – “Mary, why is Randi in the bottom?” “I have no idea!” Really Mary? Really? You savaged her paso doble last night, and you are shocked she’s in the bottom. What part of “judge” don’t you understand?
9:40 PM – Debbie Allen is bored with the paso, and mentions that Mary hated the paso. You go Debbie! Then she blames the wig. You went Debbie!
9:42 PM – Cat worships at Kupono’s Fashion Altar. Damn, the hits keep on coming. Oh wait, Mary is aware Kupono had a bad night last night. Did she forget that Randi was his partner?
9:44 PM – Time for Melissa’s solo. She and Ade are here because the 60’s are not. (And Tyce made another questionable cramming decision.) Debbie, why is she in the bottom? She needs to give more. Orrrr, there were three great routines ahead of them last week.
9:46 PM – Ade brings back his Righteous Brothers solo. Gawd, what a leap! JISNM is babbling, yes she is. And now it is time for the Black Eyed Peas! So cool to see them again after seeing the live at Wango Tango.
9:51 PM - I love the Black Eyed Peas in concert. They love performing together, and they are a lot of fun. Fergie seems to have stolen Julia Roberts’s Robo-Bra from Erin Brockovich. And that woman who got on stage and started dancing, was she supposed to be there? I kinda got the feeling that they picked a bunch of lucky audience members to dance onstage with the Peas, especially the way they were looking over their shoulders at them.
9:54 PM – Caught up on TiVo. Time to figure out whose montage we are seeing. I am thinking Randi.
9:55 PM – Yup, it’s Randi. Oh yeah, she was the unitard girl! While this is good, we have to agree that “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall was the best “Girl Elimination Montage” music ever.
9:57 PM – Is it Kupono Day?
9:58 PM – Yup. I was right that the disastrous paso would be the doom of those two.
9:59 PM - You know, watching the montage, I’m realizing I really liked Kupono. That’s a bit of a bummer, really.
Another liveblog is done. I keep expecting Evan to show up in the bottom, and he never does, so I am keeping quiet for now. Thanks for playing along, everyone.
