a psa ~ eugenie de sade

Eugenie de Sade… a movie made in 1970 based on Marquis de Sade’s novel Eugenie de Franval. Directed by Jess Franco. I don’t recommend seeing it.  I know I should be a bit kinder since it was made in 1969/1970, but it was awful. Perhaps it was also because we did not watch the original and uncut version. This was released in 1975. I’m not sure it would have made much of a difference. The only difference it would have made was that we would be able to actually see what made this movie such a big deal. Perhaps there would be more sadistic visuals and murder. However, the bad acting, music and cinematography would remain the same.

Sylvanus and I actually had a lot of fun watching this movie. We had fun making our own lines, mocking the music and gawking at the poor camera angles. The only nice thing I can say is that Soledad Miranda (the woman who place Eugenie) is in fact beautiful. Sylvanus and I really wished that Mistress Kyra was with us to make fun of suffer through this awful movie.

So what was so bad about it?

Wardrobe! The characters wore the same outfits many times.

Music! The soundtrack was awful. Exactly what you would expect from a 1970 movie, but it was the same damn music over and over again.

Cinematography! Oh this was awful. You can tell it was a low budget film. I have no idea what the guy holding the camera was thinking. Very often scenes were out of focus and then zoomed in on things that made no sense.

Acting! It was awful.

What was the big deal!?! Um, what was the big deal about this movie? I missed it. I thought this was a movie about pain and pleasure. There was a huge “ewww” factor when step dad and daughter end up being lovers. I found it quite entertaining when step dad tells his daughter he killed mommy because she cheated on him, but had to wait to kill her till daughter was born, and daughter just acted like “oh that’s reasonable”.  The movie was based on a step dad and daughter team who are lovers and then they find people and kill them. You don’t even assume they’ve slept with these people. (perhaps that is where the uncut version is helpful). Yes, there is some nudity. As in 1970 fashion, women are in their natural state (I’m not complaining about that, you know I adore natural and curvaceous women). However, when the man who plays Eugenie’s step dad got naked and you saw him from behind, he was hairy all over and really skinny. I turned to Sylvanus, squinting my eyes, telling him this guy looked like Mr. Burns. There was one other guy who got naked in the movie and you saw him from behind and he also had a hairy ass. Yuck.

Sylvanus and myself both hated this movie. If you have 90 minutes to spare, then go have fun.  I have to admit that we are still laughing about this movie, so there is some entertainment to be had there. I’m finding it insanely crazy that people are praising this movie. Really? I mean come on! You do Marquis de Sade no justice! Are you living in such a sheltered  life that you find this movie incredible?!? Seeing this movie actually made me not want to read the original novel. I certainly have no interest in watching anything else made by Jess/Jesus Franco.

Watch at your own risk.

On a brighter note, Sylvanus and myself became models for a change and had our engagement photos finally taken. I think they will turn out very nicely.

Mistress Kyra came over last night and had a photo shoot done by Sylvanus. She was very pleased by many of the photos. She and I also had a chance to play around for a bit. It’s amazing to see how genuinely happy she is when she plays with me and it is documented on photo. The smile never leaves her face. You may get to see a few of these shots in an upcoming HNT *wink*

That reminded me of one of the programmes we get on Channel 4 here (the UK) called Badly Dubbed Porn. It’s just what it says, old porn movies redubbed with bizarre comedy dialogue. Probably makes almost as much sense as the originals, but funnier.
