The Love LA show
January 27, 2008 by Sylvanus
Mina and I have returned from the Love LA show, which met every possible definition of a rockin’ good time. While neither of us had ever been to one of “those” shows before, our confidence in Ian and Alicia (Freddy and Eddy) and their ability to throw a bash was not misplaced. We arrived early to help them with the setup…or so we thought. It turned out that the tickets were printed with the wrong address, and the middle two numbers were exchanged! As we took off down Sunset Boulevard trying to find the show, I stopped behind a van to figure out what to do. Looking into the van, I saw all the boxes that were being unloaded were stamped with the words “Pleasure Chest.” Well, that’s not likely to be a coincidence…
So, at Ian’s behest we went down to the building at the wrong address and plastered a few signs directing people the right way down Sunset. It took a severe whipping of a recalcitrant Kinko’s employee to make this happen, but that’s why you send a Dom! After stuffing gift bags until the show start, we stepped into the party, which was mostly centered around the main ballroom at Boulevard 3. The center piece was a gigantic stage for the fashion and burlesque shows and an array of demo beds. The show-stealer was the Bonkum bed swing. Here, it was actually being demonstrated by a pair of (clothed) female models, and the occasional helping hand from the rep. Talk about the gigs I wish I could get!
Around the ballroom were the various exhibitors, and every one of them demonstrated the same commitment to quality that we have come to expect from Freddy and Eddy. Additionally, in two of the rooms off to the side were a series of sexual seminars. We attended Midori’s blowjob seminar, which was a heavily condensed version of her standard 2-hour presentation. Roughly ten minutes in I was kicking myself for missing her cunnilingus seminar earlier in the day. Midori has the perfect mix of sass, intelligence, frankness, and sexiness to carry this topic off with charisma and charm. There is something amazing about being in a room of 60-70 strangers, who, upon being offered a “boyfriend du jour,” a banana, to practice what she is teaching on, shoot almost every hand in the air. Midori is now officially an appointment for us when she returns to town, as her imaginative and fun approach to teach sexual technique have us looking forward to the chance to learn at her feet.
Of course, a show like this also represents a unique chance to expand our toy collection, and we are welcoming our newest “friends” to our toybox, eagerly awaiting the scrutiny that our toy reviews inevitably involve:
- The Fun Factory Delight, a Teutonic wonder
- Fun Factory Smartballs, a modern German interpretation of Ben Wa
- The Vibratex Rabbit Rosebud, a silky update of Mina’s best friend.
- System Jo Watermelon-flavored lubricant. There is something bizzare about taste-testing lubes at 11:00 in the morning, but, in addition to serving good slicking purpose, these products would go great with vodka in a martini. Not that they recommend that.
- Two waterproof bullet vibes, compliments of Vibratex.
- Two massage candles.
- A variety of lace and silk nipple pasties.
Other goodies that came home with us:
- One condom-wrapped banana (Mina is a natural at applying a condom with her mouth)
- Several njoy car stickers
- A “My other ride is a Rabbit Habit” license plate frame
- A Bonkum DVD
- A wide of assortment of Pleasure Chest swag
- A set of “Spank Someone Happy,” ahem, “paint stirrers.”
- A stack of catalogs from our favorite companies.
All in all, a wonderful time had by all, and there will be much for us to look forward to writing about in the future.
UPDATE: I have added pictures of our new friends to the page of Our Toys.

Sounds like a good time had by all. Sorry I missed it.
I’m looking forward to your new toy reviews.

Enough to make one traverse the continent as, alas, my world sits on the coastal end of the Bible Belt. Would kill to take the cunny class tho. Had a lesson from a lesbian friend once but I still don’t think I’ve achieved the desired level of expertise. Perhaps you two could give a few pointers some time. Just a thought.

Well, since you mentioned it… you can look forward to a post in the very near future.

Sounds like a blast! Somehow I doubt something like that will ever happen in my midwestern town full of Christian colleges.

we had a lot of fun.
