Amorphous by any other name…

CASSIUS
…
Tell me, good Brutus, can you see your face?
BRUTUS
No, Cassius, for the eye sees not itself
But by reflection, by some other thing.
CASSIUS
‘Tis just:
And it is very much lamented, Brutus,
That you have no such mirrors as will turn
Your hidden worthiness into your eye,
That you might see your shadow.
-William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar
Act 1, Scene 2
I remember reading this play for the first time in tenth grade, and this line leaping out at me. Ever since then I have always felt keenly aware of this blind spot I carry. It is has always been easier for me to judge my mood by how others react to me than by how I actually feel. So, keeping this in mind, there is an issue I would like to address.
I chose the name Amorphous a few months ago, when I started my other blog, Taking Shape. I was at a very difficult and painful place in every aspect of my life, and I didn’t really know what things would turn into. In the intervening months a lot has changed. I have been successful in my new line of work, and I have gotten into this wonderful relationship with mina. And so, as I look at the name Amorphous, I find it no longer suits me, for I have taken shape, and a shape that I am truly proud to hold.
So, gentle readers, I ask you for help. I am looking for a new name that describes me better. In general, I don’t like names that are common male names. I like nouns and adjectives that seem to suit. Something short would also be good. If you would prefer to make your suggestion privately, feel free to email me. I look forward to your suggestions as I complete my new identity.

i am being very comical….”iFuck”

This goes back to a novel by Piers Anthony where one of the main characters has a guy who was pretty much a severe D (which by the way I don’t think you are) … I like what it represented and still like the name … qyv … pronounced kife
a new name? hmmm….i may have to think on that!!! xoxo
I’d like to suggest Birch. There is, of course, the obviousness of wood, but there’s a little more to it than that. It’s of nature, and it takes a long time to develop to the point of mature utility. It can be used in a variety of ways, shaped and reshaped to whatever form might be wished, but solid once it’s complete. It can burn up (as with desire). It’s strong and solid.
From a description found elsewhere: Color: Cream or light brown tinged with red.
The Tree: The largest of the North American birches. The tree usually reaches about 65 feet in height with a straight, tapering trunk generally about 30″ in diameter.
The Wood: A straight-grained wood with fine even texture. Heavy and very strong.
For some reason, all of this seems like a good description to me.
So, Birch is my suggestion.
